SOCIAL CULTURAL CHALLENGES OF CITIES_
UNDERSTANDING URBANISATION
This Seminar seeks to explore and map in the international context the development of contemporary cities by looking upon current topics and local processes for urban development. The theoretical framework is provided in addition by key discourses of urban research.
You should be enthusiastic about:
– getting involved with relevant theoretical approaches to cities and city-regions and the respective literature
– aiming to understand contemporary social and cultural challenges of cities and urban agglomerations, segregation processes, ongoing demographic changes and effects of a globalizing world on migration and segregation
– exploring the role of different stakeholders and public participation in urban governance and urban planning processes
– work with research centred representation strategies (mappings)
