Seven Abstractions of Buildings
on the Seven Variations of Space from O. M. Ungers

The course challenges a functionalist and programmatic categorization of architecture, aiming to open new horizons for understanding building typologies. Throughout the semester, students will explore alternative ways of organizing and classifying architecture while developing their own typological argument around a case study. The course draws inspiration from O. M. Ungers’ work “Sieben Variationen des Raumes über die Sieben Leuchter der Baukunst von John Ruskin”.
